Notice: Site Downtime

The site and forums will be down for a short duration sometime this week, likely Tuesday or Thursday, while I make a full backup of all data in preparation for a likely hosting change. This is needed because we have two weeks until the domain name expires, and slightly longer until the hosting goes, too. Happy July 12th, 2007!

It only comes once in like ever... but anyways, here's some minor updates. We're currently having an upcoming scrim against SD on July 14th (this Saturday) at 7PM EST. We're going to have a blast! We are happy to say that our newest member is Sharp. We also have Mandalore as a recruit. His vote is coming up shortly. In other news, the CT Xfire Skin was released a little while ago. It was designed by Stealth and coded by Koppa. We appreciate Koppa's time and his services to get it up and running. You can find the topic here. There is also one final announcement about an upcoming project that is about to be released. There will be an announcement at BFP2 website (http://www.bfpirates.com) probably next week. Happy New Year!

2006 is gone and 2007 is here. 2006 was a fun and trying year for the Cut Throats. From having some of the largest arguments we've ever seen and overcoming them all to facing the very real fact that our careers as BFPers may be concluding. BFP is a very special thing to all of us. It's that first girlfriend, the girl that we'll always remember no matter where we sail. We were the first clan here and no one can take that away. We made it better in it's very early stages and continued to help and create new versions up until present day. The Cut Throat family was created in these seas, and now we're facing the horizon. It's a scary thing to leave the place you call home, the place you feel safe in. Maybe 2007 will be about risks. Maybe it will be about growing closer or expanding our family. No matter what 2007 brings, whether its more members or new challenges, theres one thing I'll always know. I'll always know that no matter how hard the wind, no matter how high the waves, the Cut Throats will be together. We're a family. We've been a family since the first day we were tested and we'll continue being a family long after the last day we're tested. I hope 2007 brings it's best. We're ready. Server happenings, rumblings and future plots

First I just want to say we really dont use this nifty news feature enough, which we should probably start doing more for things outside of the box such as game/product reviews, personal opinions, awesomely random facts and even a rant or two. That being said, from time to time we do need to use this to discuss actual news regarding the Cut Throats clan, so here is one of those 'serious' ones. A huge amount of thanks goes to K9 Carlos for footing a huge portion of the bill with the help of donations for the last, well, forever. Because of him, we have been able to pillage to our hearts content for the last 3-odd years, and while most of the time K9 wasnt even using the server himself. (Though we all yearn for the day we get to see K9 ingame again, and cutlass him) Massive and I will be handling the server payment from this point forward, if anyone would like to donate towards keeping her up, more information can be found here. Keeping her up is exactly what we want to do right now too, for it's time to bring a little change to the house that K9 built. With BFP not seeing as much activity as it used to and with several other servers such as SD's new public server up and running, we have deceided to begin taking steps to change the state of our server away from Battlefield: Pirates. This wont be an immidiate change with many arrangements still to be made, but in the very near future, the Cut Throat's Public Server will no longer be a functional Battlefield: 1942 server, and will rise anew on the Source Engine. We're holding off on more information for now on the conditions of the server's transformation into shiny new Source-ness, but you can guess it has somthing to do with that HL2 mod we enjoy saying absolutely nothing about. Thats all for now in terms of actual news. Un-actual news you say? Sadly I havn't got much. The white house did recently call for the construction of an Orbital Battlestation, which is awesome and a threat to secret rebel bases everywhere. A very important date in Cut Throat history

Today is a very important day in Cut Throat history, and world history in general. If you haven't prepared your calendars for the future, you should start now. You should mark off November 6th with as much obnoxious shit to make sure you never forget it. November 6th is a day that shall forever live in infamy as long as the human race exists. This day marks the creation of something that has changed my life and all of ours as well, whether we know it or not, and will likely perpetuate and continue to affect us for as long as we are around. It is a day where we rejoice the birth of another very important human being. Aa birthday is, at it's roots, nothing more than a reminder that your momma and your poppa got it on and you are what happened. In fact, if it wasn't for your really horny parents, you wouldn't be reading this. Looking at it that way, when you stop and realize all the life that's prevented by wearing condoms and such, you go, "shit." Sometimes you might look at a particular individual and say that their better half might have just rolled down the side of their inabriated mother's leg. Rarely do you think about a person and say to yourself, "Shit, I'm glad they didn't get, uhm, "blown" away." It's not as though it isn't true for a lot of people, it is just that we don't like to compliment people as much as we do trash them - but there are notable exceptions. Thus, when you thankful that someone didn't end up in a condom, you must simultaneously realize that they are the fucking shit. It also has occured to me quite jovially that this was not the first, but rather the second unsafe sex decision that turned out really well for the same family. Heck, with their track record, they should be having kids every night - CT would be a lot cooler. Someday, I promise, someday, I'm going to bake up a nice cake and send it out west for a particular family started by a couple who inadverdantly changed all of our lives just by having a few sexy times. This couple is wholly responsible for the creation of two of CT's oldest, most notorious, and most fundamental members, and inadverdantly, partially responsible for the creation and upholding of the greatest group of gamers ever. I'll send them a cake and let them know that someday. Everyone knows that 1/2 helped to found the Cut Throats. We all know about him and his legacy. He doesn't come around much, but we know what he's done for us and we thank him eternally. Yet in the very large shadow he casts lies another man, a man who stands out among his darkness. He's 2/2, and without him, our lives would probably taste like shit. This guy has been in CT since almost the very beginning. He is, by definition, the very essence of the Cut Throats. He himself is the purest embodiment of the values we as a community hold to be true. This man has never let his guiding light wane, always keeping the Cut Throats on the right path by making sure we emphasize the right things like friendship instead of leadership. He makes sure we respect people based upon their thoughts, actions, intentions - their character - instead of their rank or monetary status. He keeps us ... us. There will only be one Michael Jordan. There will be only one Babe Ruth. There will be only one Wayne Gretzky. There will be only one Takeshi "Hot Dog Eating Champ" Kobeyashi. And there will be only one Special Jimmy Thank you very much Travis "Special Jimmy" Lilach Sincerely, Mike "Wang Chung" Stylianos and any Cut Throat who you've ever done anything nice for.
